अकोला:  वादग्रस्त कारकीर्द ठरलेल्या जिल्हा पोलिस अधीक्षक अमोघ गावकर यांच्या बदलीचे आदेश शुक्रवारी आले. यानंतर अकोल्याचे नवीन अधीक्षक कोण, अशी चर्चा सुरू असतानाच जिल्हा पोलीस अधीक्षक जी श्रीधर यांचे नाव समोर आले. जी श्रीधर यांचे नाव अकोल्याला तसे नवे नाही. कारण, यापूर्वी शेजारचा जिल्हा बुलडाण्यातील खामगाव येथे जी श्रीधर यांनी  उपविभागीय पोलीस अधिकारी म्हणून यशस्वी कारकीर्द केली आहे.जी श्रीधर यांची पोलीस खात्यात एक वेगळी ओळख आहे. क्रिकेटर...अभियंता... ते पोलीस अधीक्षक असा प्रवास जी श्रीधर यांनी केला आहे.

सामान्यांतून असामान्यतेकडे...

जी श्रीधर यांचे वडील गोविंराजन.सामान्य कुटुंबातील गोविंदराजन यांचे सरकारी अधिकारी होण्याचे स्वप्न भंगले. पुढे त्यांना टेलिफोन खात्यात नोकरी मिळाली. खूप कष्टाने त्यांनी नऊ भावंडांचे कुटूंब चालविले.श्रीधर यांना तर डॉक्‍टर व्हायचे होते. परंतु, वैद्यकीय शाखेत संधी मिळाली नसल्याने त्यांनी अभियांत्रिकीत प्रवेश घेतला. एक वर्षे नोकरी केली. वडिलांचे शब्द त्यांच्या लक्षात होते, " मला जमले नाही, पण तू कर ...तु मोठा अधिकारी हो", वडिलांचे हे शब्द आणि स्वप्न सतत समोर दिसायचे. अखेर त्यांनी नोकरी सोडली. याच दरम्यान मोठ्या जिद्दीने त्यांनी  केंद्रीय लोकसेवा आयोग परीक्षा (युपीएससी)चा अभ्यास सुरू केला. पहिल्या प्रयत्नातच वयाच्या २४ व्या वर्षी ते युपीएससीच्या परीक्षेतून "आयपीएस'साठी निवडले गेले. 

व्हायचे होते डॉक्‍टर झाले इंजिनीअर 

जी श्रीधर प्राथमिक शालेय शिक्षणात अगदीच ढ पण नाही आणि हुशारही नाही, अश्या  मधल्या सरासरीतील विद्यार्धी होते. पण डॉक्टर व्हायचे स्वप्न उराशी बाळगून त्यांनी चिकाटीने अभ्यास केला. या मेहनतीचे फळ जी श्रीधर यांना मिळाले. जी.श्रीधर यांना दहावी माध्यमिक मंडळ आणि आणि बारावीच्या उच्च माध्यमिक मंडळाच्या परीक्षेत ९० टक्के गुण मिळाले. डॉक्‍टर बहिण असलेल्या जी. श्रीधर यांना वैद्यकीय शाखेतून पदवीधर होण्याचे स्वप्न होते. त्यामुळे त्यांनी अकरावी व बारावीला विज्ञान शाखेत बायोलॉजी ग्रुप घेतला. २००४  मध्ये तामिळनाडू मध्ये राज्य पातळीवरील वैद्यकीय प्रवेशासाठी प्रवेश परीक्षा झाली. मात्र, यामध्ये त्यांना अपयश आल्याने त्यांना अभियांत्रिकीत प्रवेश घ्यावा लागला. इलेक्‍ट्रॉनिक्‍स ऍन्ड    टेलिकम्युनिकेशन मधून अभियांत्रिकीची पदवी मिळवलेल्या जी. श्रीधर यांना पुढे उत्तम  वेतनाची नोकरी मिळाली. 

पहिल्याच प्रयत्नात यूपीएससी उत्तीर्ण 

इलेक्‍ट्रॉनिक्‍स ऍन्ड टेलिकम्युनिकेशन या शाखेतून पदवी मिळाल्यानंतर जी श्रीधर यांना  बंगलोरच्या प्रतिथयश "टाटा कन्सल्टन्सी' मध्ये चांगल्या वेतनाची नोकरी मिळाली. 

परंतू,आता आपल्याला अधिकारी व्हायचे अशी मनात इच्छा बाळगलेल्या जी. श्रीधर यांना अभ्यासाला वेळ मिळत नव्हता. मग, त्यांनी एक वर्षातच २००९ मध्ये नोकरीचा राजीनामा दिला. युपीएससीचा अभ्यास करताना नोकरी सोडल्याची थोडी धाकधुक त्यांच्या मनाला वाटली. पण, त्यांनी शिकवण्या लावून घरी सुद्धा  अभ्यास केला. आणि पहिल्याच प्रयत्नात युपीएससीच्या पुर्व, मुख्य आणि मुलाखतीत त्यांना यश आले. 

३२९ ही ऑल इंडिया रॅंक मिळालेल्या जी. श्रीधर यांची युपीएससीतून आयपीएस (भारतीय पोलिस प्रशासन सेवा) साठी वयाच्या २४ व्या वर्षी निवड झाली. प्रशिक्षण कालावधी पुर्ण केल्यानंतर त्यांची सर्वप्रथम खामगाव ( बुलढाणा) येथे उपविभागीय पोलिस अधिकारी म्हणून नियुक्ती झाली. त्यानंतर औरंगाबाद ग्रामीणचे सहाय्यक पोलिस अधीक्षक म्हणून त्यांनी काम केले. यानंतर  नागपूरला पोलिस उपायुक्त म्हणून त्यांनी काम केले.  आता बीड पोलिस अधीक्षक म्हणून काम करीत असताना शुक्रवारी शासनाने त्यांची बदली अकोल्यात केली आहे. लवकरच ते अकोलाचा पदभार स्वीकारतील.

तामिळनाडू रणजी संघाचे सलामीचे फलंदाज!

जी. श्रीधर हे अष्टपैलू व्यक्तिमत्वाचे धनी आहेत. क्रिकेटची आवड बालपणीच त्यांनी जोपासली. अनेक क्रिकेट स्पर्धा त्यांनी गजविल्या. श्रीधर यांनी तामिळनाडू रणजी संघाचे २००४ मध्ये प्रतिनिधीत्व केले. सलामीचे फलंदाज म्हणून मैदानात उतरल्यावर पंजाब, कर्नाटक, महाराष्ट्र आणि हैदराबाद या चार संघांविरुद्ध खेळ करीत, त्यांनी सर्वाधिक ८३ धावा त्यांनी काढल्या होत्या.

Akola: The transfer order of controversial Superintendent of Police Amogh Gavkar was issued on Friday.  After this, while the discussion was going on about the new Superintendent of Akola, the name of District Superintendent of Police G Sridhar came up.  G Sridhar's name is not new to Akola.  This is because G. Sridhar has previously had a successful career as a Sub-Divisional Police Officer at Khamgaon in the neighboring district of Buldana. G. Sridhar has a distinct identity in the police department.  Cricketer ... Engineer ... Superintendent of Police is the journey that Sridhar has taken.

From ordinary to  Extra ordinary...

G Sridhar's father Govindarajan. Govindarajan's dream of becoming a government official was shattered.  Later he got a job in a telephone department.  With great difficulty he ran a family of nine siblings. Sridhar wanted to be a doctor.  However, he did not get a chance in the medical field and took admission in engineering.  Worked for one year.  He remembered the words of his father, "I did not meet, but you do ... you are a great officer", these words and dreams of the father were constantly in front of him.  Eventually he quit his job.  Meanwhile, with great persistence, he started studying for the Central Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination.  At the first attempt, at the age of 24, he was selected for "IPS" from the UPSC examination.

He wanted to become a doctor, an engineer

G. Sridhar was a middle-aged student in elementary school education who was not at all smart.  But he persevered in his dream of becoming a doctor.  The fruits of this hard work were given to J. Sridhar.  G. Sridhar got 90% marks in 10th Secondary Board and 12th Higher Secondary Board examinations.  G. who is a doctor's sister.  Sridhar dreamed of graduating from the medical field.  Therefore, he took Biology Group in Science in 11th and 12th.  In 2004, an entrance test for state level medical admission was held in Tamil Nadu.  However, he failed and had to enter engineering.  He holds an engineering degree from Electronics and Telecommunication.  Sridhar later got a well-paying job.

 Passed UPSC in the first attempt

After graduating with a degree in Electronics and Telecommunications, G Sridhar got a well-paying job at the prestigious Tata Consultancy in Bangalore.But, now that you want to be an officer, G.  Sridhar was not getting time to study.  Then, within a year, he resigned in 2009.  While studying for UPSC, he felt a little scared to quit his job.  But he also taught at home.  And in the first attempt, he succeeded in the pre-, main and interview of UPSC.

329 is the All India Rank G.  Sridhar was selected from UPSC for IPS (Indian Police Administration Service) at the age of 24.  After completing his training, he was first posted as a Sub-Divisional Police Officer at Khamgaon (Buldhana).  He later served as Assistant Superintendent of Police, Aurangabad Grameen.  He later served as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Nagpur.  While working as Beed Superintendent of Police now, the government on Friday transferred him to Akola.  He will soon take over from Akola.

Tamil Nadu Ranji Trophy opener!

G.  Sridhar is a man of all-round personality.  He developed a love for cricket in his childhood.  He won many cricket tournaments.  Sridhar represented the Tamil Nadu Ranji Trophy team in 2004.  As the opener, he was the top scorer with 83 runs against four teams - Punjab, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Hyderabad.
